Inventing the Future

“Inventing the Future” is an initiative in partnership with Arconic Foundation focused on entrepreneurship and STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). As there is a rapid shift taking place in manufacturing from automation to digitalization of information and a skills shortage has been identified by manufacturers globally, Arconic, the Arconic Foundation and JA Europe strive to encourage more young people to pursue STEM careers or start businesses in these fields. Over the last 24 months, the programme involved 600 young people from over 20 schools, supported by 80 Arconic volunteers.

The finale of the 2019 edition of “Inventing the Future” took place at the annual European Business Summit, one of the largest events bringing together business and politics to stimulate thinking on the most challenging European issues. Students from the Louis Armand high school in Eaubonne, close to Paris, presented a “Revolutionary transportation system” to tackle traffic disruption, congestion and pollution for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA. The other three finalists came from Germany, Hungary and the UK.
